Why your books are never “caught up”
01 / The old wayDoing it yourself
Categorizing transactions at 11pm, months behind, never sure it's right — and every April is a panic attack with a filing deadline.
The local firm
$400–600 a month to be their smallest client. Your books show up when they need them — tax time — not when you do.
The big platforms
A “dedicated team” that's actually a rotating queue of strangers. You re-explain your business every month, and your books live in their software.
None of those failed because of you. Every one of them sells bookkeeping as labor — hours, staff, software logins — and when you sell labor, nobody is accountable for a date. Your books aren't late by accident. In the old way, late is the design.
Big companies close in 5 days. Now you do too.
02 / The Five-Day CloseFortune 500 companies don't wonder how last month went. Five business days after month-end, their books are reconciled, locked, and reported. It's called the monthly close — and it's the entire reason they always know their numbers. This is that process, built for small business. I call it the Five-Day Close.
- 2.1
Every transaction categorized, every account reconciled, books locked by the 5th business day of every month
- 2.2
The Owner's One-Pager in your inbox — what you made, what you spent, what changed. Plain English, not accountant-speak
- 2.3
Done by one person: me. The face in the video. You never get handed to a “team”
- 2.4
In your QuickBooks file. You own everything, always. Leave anytime
- 2.5
And the deadline has teeth: if your books are ever late, that month is free
What changed: revenue up on two large invoices; software spend crept 9% — worth a look at redacted vendor before renewal.

04 / In writingMy two guarantees
№1 — The Deadline Guarantee. Your books are closed by the 5th business day of every month, or that month is free. Forever. Not a credit, not an apology email — free.
№2 — The First-Month Guarantee. Thirty days in, if this isn't the relief you expected: full refund, no questions asked — and you keep the caught-up books. You lose nothing either way.
Ask any other bookkeeping service — the big platforms, the local firm — to put either of those in writing.
Three steps, then it's off your plate
05 / How it worksBook the call
30 minutes. You tell me about the business and how far behind the books are. No judgment — nobody calls a bookkeeper because things are going great.
The Catch-Up Sprint
I rebuild and reconcile everything with read-only bank access. You do nothing.
The monthly close
Books closed, One-Pager in your inbox. Tuesday nights are yours again.
What you're probably thinking
06 / Fair questionsCan I trust a stranger on the internet with my financials?
You should ask that. Here's the setup: I get read-only access to your bank feeds — I can see transactions, I cannot move a dollar. All work happens in your own QuickBooks file, which you own and can watch anytime. That's less access than most platforms ask for, with more visibility.
My books are a disaster. I'm embarrassed.
Every client starts there. The mess is literally step one of the process — it's why the Catch-Up Sprint exists. The only way your books stay a disaster is waiting until they're “less embarrassing” first.
Cheaper than QuickBooks Live — what's the catch?
They're paying for offices, sales teams, and proprietary software. You're paying for one experienced person and a deadline. And notice the guarantee runs the opposite direction of a catch: if I'm late, I don't get paid. The founding rate is lower still because my first 10 clients are trading a testimonial for a locked-in price.
What if I'm months — or years — behind?
All fixable, and the pricing is simple: up to 3 months of backlog, catch-up is free. 4–12 months is a one-time flat fee, quoted on the call before you commit to anything. More than a year? Still fixable — we'll scope it together. Every catch-up is covered by the same money-back guarantee, and the monthly is always $199 regardless.
Do I have to switch software or learn anything?
No. If you have QuickBooks, I work in your file. If you have nothing, I set it up — in your name, owned by you. Your total time investment is the one 30-minute call.
Do you do my taxes too?
No — and that's on purpose. I keep your books clean, closed, and tax-ready; your tax preparer files. Staying in one lane is why the deadline never slips. (Your preparer will love me.)
Is the QuickBooks subscription included?
QuickBooks charges its own software fee (plans start around $35/mo) — that subscription is yours, in your name, no markup from me. I'll set you up on the cheapest plan that actually fits your business. No hidden fees on my side: $199 flat is the whole monthly bill from me — the only other charge that can ever exist is a one-time catch-up fee if you're 4+ months behind, and you'll see that number before you commit.
Is my data secure?
Bank connections are read-only feeds through QuickBooks' bank-level encryption — I can see transactions, I can't touch money. You can revoke my access in two clicks, anytime, and everything lives in your own account.
By next month, your books will just be… done.
07 / Get startedOne 30-minute call. You leave with a written catch-up plan and an exact quote — useful whether you hire me or not. Then, if we're a fit: fourteen days to caught-up, and the 5th of every month forever — or it's free.
Simple: I'm building this practice deliberately. Ten clients, priced low, in exchange for honest testimonials — that's the whole trick.
You get my full, personal attention at a founding price, because you're my most important client — not my smallest. I get proof.
Next year, the rate for new clients goes up. Yours never moves.
